Welcome All
If you have found yourself looking at this page on our website, you are searching for deeper meaning in your life. We are here to journey with you in your search for a meaningful relationship with God.
You are a child of God, and we welcome you just as you are. If questions of faith linger, or past ‘church hurts’ sting, or you’ve been rejected by religious folk because you live work and breathe at the margins of faith, you are welcome here at Church of the Cross.
Share God’s Love
We love people. And while we struggle with what that means in our everyday lives, we seek to follow the path Jesus lays before us. Worship is our central gathering time, after which we break bread together in fellowship over coffee and light refreshments. This gives us chance to catch up, to get to know new people, or rekindle old friendships. Worship and fellowship are one of the ways we ‘share God’s love’ with one another.
Offer Hope
Sharing God’s love also entails offering hope through the sustaining nourishment of food.
…All in Jesus’ Name
Why do we do all this? Because Jesus has made a difference in our lives and we want others to experience the same. Jesus has changed us and how we see the world. We want to open the door for others to come to know this love which welcomes, challenges, graces, enlists, encourages, and sends out into the world.

- The Feed My Starving Children’s site in Schaumburg is a favorite mission work space as we pack food to be sent around the world. We love the intergenerational and community aspect of this mission!
- Closer to home, we provide meals for the P.A.D.S. (Public Action to Deliver Shelter). The local food pantry has regular foot traffic from us dropping off bags of groceries. Our Deacons sponsor an Assistance Request program which provides short term help to people with immediate needs. We even started a community garden in the hopes of getting to know our neighbors as we provide fresh produce to our neighbors and the food pantry.
- And there are the in-between aspects of our ministry as well—not only far away and not next door. We join with other churches in the Chicago area to provide food, support, and vacation bible school once a year to a reservation community in Sisseton, SD.

Where are we headed? Come and see!
